Imagine this. A man with only hours to live was granted his final wish: He wanted to see his dog one last time. What would your final wish be?

The man, Peter Robson, had been suffering from fibrosis of the lungs. He had little time left on earth. The employees working at Ninewells Hospital in the United Kingdom asked family members if they wanted to do anything to comfort Peter in his final hours.

The family asked if they could bring in his dog. His dog is a Border Collie named Shep.

They thought their request would be denied. Dogs can bring outside germs inside which isn’t ideal for a hospital. The chance of another patient getting an infection goes much higher. However only twenty minutes later they received great news. The hospital agreed to allow Shep in to say one last goodbye to his owner.

Ever since his wife passed away Shep, who is 8 years old, has been right by Peter’s side.

“He really thought he would never see Shep again,” Robson’s granddaughter Ashley Stevens told the outlet. “It was an amazing moment to see the two of them together, and Shep was so excited to see him.”

The family shared the touching moment on Facebook. They also paid tribute to the hospital. The hospital went above and beyond to make a dying man’s last wish come true. Someday Peter and Shep will meet again in heaven.
